With spammers using more aggressive tactics to try and get through to inboxes worldwide, anti spam filters have had to upgrade their security features to provide a stronger barricade against these kinds of virtual threats. Unfortunately, this can mean that there is a very small chance of genuine emails being blocked accidentally. Here are five tips designed to help legitimate messages get through unhindered.
- Only send messages to those who have given you permission. Do this by getting interested individuals to fill in an online contact form or subscribe to your newsletter through your website.
- Ensure the content of the message isn’t spammy. Avoid bad links, improper html, all-cap words, characters replacing letters, etc. as spam filters can detect these and block them quite easily.
- Ensure your messages are legally compliant by including the following within the message text: unsubscribe options, physical mailing addresses and relevant subject lines.
- Authenticate your ID. As a legitimate sender, make the ‘From’ tag in the email something natural that a human would write. If using a delivery service, make sure that it does this for you.
- Send content that is relevant to the client. Track whether individuals are opening your emails or deleting them and create subject lines which engage and encourage people to read your messages.
If you follow these five tips, your mail will get through to the recipient’s inboxes without any hassle. Of course, those writing legitimate, informative text that actually benefits the reader will automatically use these techniques anyway. The vast majority of mail from trustworthy sources will create content which is useful, relevant, legal and which has been requested by the individual receiving it.
